Day 5: Blue Mountains

On our final full day in Sydney, we all fully enjoyed our packed and exciting day that was planned for us.

We had an early morning, in which our departing time was 7:30, allowing us to have breakfast from 6:45-7:30. We left the hotel for our two hour bus ride to the Blue Mountains, which is west of Sydney.

Upon arriving at the destination, we all took the scenic railway to the bottom station. This railway had a 52 degree incline, making it the steepest passenger train in the world. This ride brought us down to the bottom of the park in which we took a quick hike in which we saw old coal mines.

Afterwards, we took the scenic cableway, back up to the top of the park. This cableway is Australia’s biggest cable car. Great views of the vast forest and Three Sisters, a famous site which shows three boulders, could be seen from the ride.

After we got to the top again, we were given two and half hours to shop, eat, and hike.

Then, we all regrouped and went in the scenic skyway which was a cable car that had glass floors in which you could see the tree tops when looking down.

After getting the top, we met our coach bus and went to a little shop in which we learned about the aboriginal culture through painting boomerangs and watching a live theatre performance, which gave an overview of Australian history and cultural change.

Then, we ate our dinner at Extra Quay and headed back to the hotel for an early morning since we have to leave for Perth at 4 am.

Goodbye Sydney, hello Perth!
